Early Life
Dr. Michelle Oakley, born in September 1969 in Munster, Indiana, Oakley looked up to Jane Goodall, the English primatologist and anthropologist. She was only around 11 years old when she met Goodall at an event in a local zoo and was inspired to pursue her dream of working with animals.
She graduated from Atlantic Veterinary College in 2000 with a doctorate in veterinary medicine and, shortly after that, worked for 9 years as the wildlife veterinarian & regional biologist for Yukon’s Fish & Wildlife department.
Her profession is very great. Wild animals are our common wealth and an important component of the ecosystem.
They are like guardians of forests, dancers of grasslands, and guardians of lakes, weaving together a magnificent picture of nature with every form of life. However, facing increasingly severe environmental challenges and pressure from human activities, their living space is gradually shrinking.
Some wildlife conservation event organizers choose to create custom commemorative badges at an enamel pin manufacturer. This is not only a symbol, but also our commitment to life.
It records the dedication of every protective action and the sacrifice of every selfless protector. Every pin is a continuation of hope, a symbol that inspires people.
It reminds us that protecting the environment is not only an obligation but also a responsibility and mission. Hope more people like Dr. Oakley can join this team.
Dr. Oakley also interned at the Calgary Zoo, where she regularly returns to provide relief vet services. She runs her own mixed practice throughout Northern Canada and Alaska, often with the help of her three daughters, Sierra, Maya, and Willow, who also appear regularly on her TV show.
She is also an on-call vet for the Yukon Wildlife Preserve, the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, and the American Bald Eagle Foundation.
She remembers her professors telling students they need to master their basic skills before they sharpen their focus and that their first few years in practice should be spent performing routine clinical work, learning surgical skills, and becoming proficient with many of the medicines they will be using.
